Description
The story...I have had this car from new, got it through my Brother who worked for BMW (pah) at the time. It really is my pride and joy and I am very reluctantly putting it up for sale (subject to getting the right money), I am reluctantly putting this ad up I can tell you. The car is no longer practical for my job. I am considering keeping it as a luxuary weekend warrior, hence the money has to be right to sell and the home its going to has to be right.
The car is almost nine years old and as we know Minis rust. So here is a highlight of the not so good bits. I have frequently cleaned the car (in the important places) and added waxoyl to box sections/sills. The scuttle had a fair amount of surface rust so I removed the screen cleaned it back to bare metal, primed, and repainted (see picture below).
The paint job on the scuttle was only meant to be temporary as I was going to have the whole front sorted. So this part of the car is far from perfect and way below my normal standards.
Both wings have some small creasing in them - its not particularly noticable. This is down to a numb nutz who helped me change my gearbox at 45000 miles.
The Drivers side A-Panel needs replacing.
Under the headlights is rusty too.
Other than that the rest of the body work appears sound. Doors fine, Roof fine, Rear Quarters fine.
NOW for the good bits.
Just over a year ago I had Stuart Gurr at VMax rebore/rebuild the engine and Supercharge it. WOW. It is fantastic to drive and has been used everday since the conversion. It does need some tinkering from time to time, but what do you expect with 150 BHP on a 40 year old engine design. I have covered 8000 fabulous miles since the conversion.
